The Splashmat is made from cotton and coated with a water-based acrylic. The non-PVC coating is permanently water, soil, and mess resistant—yet it remains soft and supple.
The acrylic coated fabric conforms with the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act and the Oeko-Tex 100 Standard, which certifies that the cloth does not contain harmful chemicals and components. Oeko-Tex 100 is highly regarded in Europe and is now gaining recognition in the United States. Mimi the Sardine is transitioning into using acrylic-coated organically grown cotton in 2009.
